Hello, I’m Rhia :)

I’m an equestrian artist based in South Wales, creating highly realistic horse and animal portraits with coloured pencils. My work is shaped by a deep love for animals, the quiet beauty of horses, and the small details that make each portrait feel personal, expressive, and alive.

Over the years, I’ve created private commissions for horse and pet owners around the world, alongside original artwork, fine art prints, tutorials, and equestrian-inspired collections. As an award-winning equestrian artist, my goal has always been to capture more than just a likeness. I want each piece to reflect the character, softness, and spirit of the animal behind it.

In this course, I’ll guide you through my coloured pencil process for creating realistic horse portraits, from choosing materials and understanding your reference to layering, blending, building fur texture, drawing expressive features, and completing a full horse head and neck portrait. My hope is to help you draw horses with more confidence, care, and connection.
